Obstacles

I believe that the secret of the language of architecture does not lie in the being of space itself, but in the way in which we connect to it. - Dom Hans van der Laan

For this project, we wanted to create a strong conceptual narrative to position the furniture as a statement that lives between architecture and interior design.

The idea was to develop hyperreal space inspired by the radical sensitivity of Lina Bo Bardi, the sacred geometry of Dom Hans van der Laan, and the contemplative minimalism of Tadao Ando. It wouldn't merely serve as backdrop, it would be an environment that amplifies the sculptural presence of each piece.

Fictional Space we created mixes the raw concrete elements, treated glass and marble. The minimal structure allows the play of light, and the water elements help to bring softness to the rough edges of the space. It seems big and cold, but in reality it creates balance to the warm tones of wood and ceramic. It also allows the creation of micro-narratives within it.

Each object we place there becomes both a literal and symbolic obstacle, a pause, a question, a tension in space. But paradoxically, it’s also a bridge, between scales, disciplines, materials, environments and emotions.

We can speak about furniture not only in terms of utility or beauty but as a form of architectural thinking. Objects that claim their own space and invite you to consider the voids around them.

Working with Aga on this project has been an absolute pleasure. We approached the proposal from an architectural perspective, drawing on cultural references that allowed us to create images capable of evoking what has always inspired us. Aga understood the goal perfectly. She also developed videos that were fully aligned with the project’s visual language. Communication was smooth at all times. Aga enjoys what she does, and it’s visible.
